To all creative types, I wonder how many people have had an inspired message given to them through music, or received inspiration so great that it didn't feel like that it came from their own brain?

For instance, I was reading a book of spiritually based poems, by Helen Steiner-Rice, (on a bus), and I read this one particular poem where I was about to turn the page when the first line entered my head with a tune to it. So I literally read it through a second time and this tune hummed along with me, and I know in my own mind that I wasn’t making the tune up. It was just like listening to a cd. Anyway, I performed the song at church a couple of Sundays later and after the service, the preacher’s wife came up to me and said, “Thank you very much for that song. God spoke to me during that!”

I feel that I was used as a channel to serve a particular purpose!

Rich,
if you listened to my B1 trumpet fanfare you would have to say it was a religious experience

Hmmmmmmmmm Inspiration. The unmistakeable smell of alcohol laced breath coming from behind you when fallen in, bringing with it the certain knowledge that a Drum Major is behind you looking at your 'pooch', having discovered a lapse in Brasso etiquette, and the absolute certainty of a bollocking coming your way at Mach10!

It's not quite what Richie B was on about Nick ....but your inspiration is more RM Band style!

Sorry but I couldn't resist!!! Though you must admit that after playing ' A life on the ocean wave' for the 3000th time, inspiration is not a word to describe the mood of any sane person!

Pete Sumner threw a wobbly one morning after colours/divisions at Pembroke 'cos we were all busking it (no, really!)

He got us all back to the bandroom and made us all play our own individual parts without the dots in front of us - only one person played their part note perfect and it was the bugger he was after. Not sure now but I know it was a solo cornet - was it Tad Marriott or Taff Davies? One of 'em I reckon.

To be honest, I don't even want to play fetch with him

ITMA!
