As Colonel Jim is spinning a few dits... i thiught i would offer this "near miss" from the 1976 Yacht Band to check out if he was a cool as he appeared on the night!!!
Following a gruelling tour of the East Coast of America with the Queen visit for the Bi-Centennial we ventually fetched up in Halifax NS without having one decent run ashore so far.... we got a good look at Boston.. but I will leave that to JIM!!!.

The weather was atrocious in Halifax pouring with rain did not do it really it was like Niagara!! The Royal Beat Retreat was cancelled and the band was given leave.... we all.. well most off us headed for the nearest bar and proceed to quaff a few beers. Unfortunately... some wise arsed checked the weather and found that the rain had stopped and promptly put the BR back on!!! The Band was rounded up ( the bar was at the end of the jetty!!!) It was avery wobbly Yacht band that mustered in the waist for the briefing that night and it was clear that whilst many were pi$$ed several were hammered!!!. Brian Peever the Drum Major..... looked worried, Malc Kennard looked...... well as only Malc good look at you when he was upset... disappointed!!! Jim looked cool..edgy but cool.... The yachtsmen to a man were getting rigged to go up to see this one... the band are pi$$ed (not SNCO's of course). At the moment we were due to go over the gangway to fall in the heavens opened again in a torrential downpour!!!!. Jim quickly dismissed the Band and the BR was cancelled. Oh but it could have been so gooooood!!!!!!!!!
