ROYAL MARINES HISTORICAL RECORDS OFFICE

PERSONAL RECORDS

The personal records of Royal Marines who enlisted into the service during or after 1930, approximately, are held by.

You need to write to the above address enclosing a copy of the Death certificate of the rank (unless they died in service) and a copy of your birth certificate proving you are the next of kin. If you are the widow you must send a copy of your wedding certificate to prove you were the spouse at the time of death. Unless you are the widow there is a £30 charge for the service. Cheques payable to: The Accounting Officer MOD

The Historical Records Office Royal Marines is not open to the members of the public.

The Ministry of Defence will normally only release the information given in service records to the subjects of those records, or to their next of kin, if deceased; and it may charge a search fee, which cannot be refunded.

Service Records of Royal Marines Band Ranks who served during WW1 are held at the Fleet Air Arm Museum.

Useful knowledge for anyone researching Musicians attached to Royal Naval Divisions.
