Bandies on Bikes!

Members of the Royal Marines Band Service are undertaking a charity cycle ride across the south coast of the UK, from Deal in Kent to Torpoint in Cornwall In memory of their colleagues, Cpl Andy Thomson and Maj John Kelly. The event will take place during the week of 18-22 May 2009.
The riders undertaking the 400 miles plus challenge will endeavour to raise money for three charities, two of which have been chosen by the widows of their dearly missed friends. The proceeds of the team’s hard work will be divided between, St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth, the Deal Memorial Bandstand Trust and the Royal Marines Benevolent Fund.
Supporters can keep up with the preparations and developments of the event by regularly visiting the website indicated at the foot of this article. Donations can be made on the website to support the team using credit or debit cards or “Paypal”. If preferred, donations can also be made by cheque to: ‘RM Band Fund Portsmouth’; indicating “Bandies on Bikes” on the reverse of the cheque. The team hope that you take the opportunity to visit the site as much as possible and keep up to date with the team’s preparation over the next few months. Similarly, during the event itself, a daily update will appear on the website along with pictures of the team at various stages of the event.
Should you wish to sponsor the team in any way with funds or equipment, please contact WO2 Lee Cullen on 023 92723310

This event is happening soon and being done for excellent causes.

Hopefully, I'll be there to wave them off.

I have put a thread on RumRation highlighting the event. Good luck to all the riders and lets hope it raises plenty of money for the chosen charities

Fanstatic first day, 87 miles covered, more money raised. Great send off from the band stand, cheres for the guys and girls that turned out to send us off.
Big thank you to all at Newhaven Sea Cadets (accomodation), Age Concern (food), Lord Mayor and the Ark Pub for a fantastic breakfast.

Today is Newhaven to Portsmouth. Weather today is better and the lads and lasses flying along.

Check the website www.bandiesonbikes.co.uk all donations gratefully recieved.

Photos to follow.

Cheers
